What makes a little one happy when skies are gray? Their sunshine, of course, but a load of bright paint and something to slather it on is surely a close second. At this eight-week cross-disciplinary art course inspired by your kids’ favorite ditties, caregivers and toddlers are invited to get messy and a bit noisy, too. Instructors from KidCreate Studios offer art direction and perhaps some background vocals, as little teapots, itsy-bitsy spiders and twinkling stars take form. The Southdale YMCA offers full-day recreational programs on school vacation days. Children can take advantage of the Y’s indoor and outdoor spaces with supervised activities including group games, arts and crafts, swimming, special interest clubs and cooking lessons. On Presidents’ Day, participants will also take a field trip to Stages Theatre at Hopkins Center for the Arts to view a rehearsal for the upcoming show Twelve Dancing Princesses.
