- Mother’s Day was first recognized as a national holiday when President Woodrow Wilson signed the bill on May 9, 1914.
- It’s believed that in 1925, a bartender at the Ritz Hotel in Paris invented the mimosa, which uses equal parts sparkling wine and juice.
- Brunch caught on in the United States in the late 1930s and was mostly offered by hotels because many restaurants were closed on Sundays. As more women entered the workforce after WWII, Sunday brunch became even more popular as a way to give mom a day off from cooking.
