50th and France is known for amazing and unique shops, and this past March it welcomed a boutique all the way from Lakeville: Pink Door Boutique. With owner Lisa Vossen at the helm, Pink Door is definitely here to stay.
“My lease was up and I suddenly got notified that there was an opening here,” says Vossen. “My dad said, ‘You gotta sign that lease,’ and I did the very next day.”
The boutique may be smaller in Edina than its original location, but that certainly doesn’t mean it’s lacking in product or style. With “pretty much everything” according to Vossen, from candles to clothes to dog toys, it’s one of those stores you don’t have to know what you’re looking for when you go. It also sports pink walls, lots of handmade crystal art made by her mother and refurbished wooden furniture courtesy of Vossen’s father.
Pink Door was in Lakeville for 10 years after Vossen was laid off from her previous job in the home mortgage industry during the housing crash.
“A lot of people thought I was crazy,” she says. “But what did I have to lose?”
A decade later, Pink Door was such a staple in Lakeville her customers from there now make the trip to 50th and France just to be at the shop again. Along with them, she says Edina has really welcomed her into the community as well.
“I’m really excited to be here,” she says. “It’s like a small town, in a way. Everyone just knows each other, and I love that.”
So, stop and say “hello.” Everyone is certainly welcome, even your puppy who’s guaranteed a treat and water from only the best crystal-covered bowl.
