In 2014, Edina received a grant from the National Council of Aging to improve the approach to Alzheimer’s care. The focus of the program is to “bring awareness to the community about dementia, Alzheimer’s” and all the components that go into caretaking, according to former Senior Center director Donna Tilsner.
To accomplish this, the committee for the ACT on Alzheimer’s holds training sessions for the public. This is a statewide initiative; 33 communities have received the grant and continue to raise awareness.
