After a yearlong mission trip, Jen Biswas decided to take matters into her own hands by opening Paisley + Sparrow, an online store. On her trip, Biswas found companies in countries such as Uganda and Thailand that helped women receive a fair working wage by selling items like handcrafted jewelry.
Paisley + Sparrow mostly sells women’s accessories including jewelry, scarves and leather bags, but it also sells some home goods. The artisan products are made by women internationally, and guarantees that these women receive fair wages and have stable jobs.
“I wanted a place where myself and friends could buy something beautiful and served a purpose,” Biswas says.
While the shop is online, occasional pop-up shops can be found around Edina. According to Biswas, the pop-ups occur more around the holiday season. Look for the Brews and Brand event, where Biswas partners with other entrepreneurs for pop-up shops in breweries.
