Like many young entrepreneurs in the 21st century Hannah Halvorson and Mary Penny found each other on social media. Both are dog lovers, dog walkers and professional dog trainers who decided to meet at a dog park and became fast friends. It was clear to them that they shared a similar pet training philosophy, and since it can be difficult to grow a business on your own, they decided to team up. A New Leash Dog Training launched in January 2018 and their professional training space opened in March on Bush Lake Road in Edina. Many past clients appreciate the convenient location of the new business made even more convenient by scheduled pickup and drop-off services offered by the company. Dog day camps at A New Leash have more of a training focus than a typical day care provider. A New Leash also offers flexible drop-in classes that allow prospective clients to try it out or get a training refresher with their dog without a lengthy commitment.
Penny and Halvorson still offer midday dog visits and dog walks. They like to offer this service because their training background means that they’re equipped to handle more difficult or fearful dogs. Private, in-home pet training is also available for dog owners who have specific training goals and want more in-depth, one-on-one guidance. Halvorson and Penny also hope to offer in-home pet sitting provided by their training assistants. We know our readers love their dogs. And now you have another local dog training option with these go-getters who really love dogs too.
