Gustavus Wind Orchestra presents “Solitude”

Enjoy an evening of classical and contemporary music by the Gustavus Wind Orchestra as part of its nine-concert 2019 Tour of Minnesota.

James Patrick Miller conducts the 83 student musicians who will perform a variety of works including pieces that showcase instrumental soloists. “The Solitary Dancer” by composer Warren Benson features Mia Massaro, solo dancer.

Flutist Alex Johnson, 2017 Edina High School graduate, looks forward to returning to his alma mater to perform with the ensemble.

Kenwood Symphony Presents Masters Concerto and Aria Competition Winners' Showcase Concert

The 21st Annual Kenwood Symphony Orchestra Masters Concerto and Aria Competition Winners Showcase provides a unique opportunity for adult amateur and emerging professional musicians to perform with a symphony orchestra. KSO musicians created the competition when we realized that adult musicians were largely excluded from classical music competitions. MacPhail Spotlight Series: Pranksters and Protagonists

Join us for some of the most vivid storytelling in classical music: the lively scenery of the age-old commedia dell’arte (Suite Italienne), select adventures of a medieval German prankster (Till Eulenspiegel), and the fateful encounter between a soldier and the devil (The Soldier’s Tale). Evocative melodies and rhythms drive the narrative throughout this colorful program.

Leonard Bernstein’s Candide presented by VocalEssence and Theater Latté Da

Romance and comedy abound in this theatrical concert version of the classic operetta, originally adapted from a work by Voltaire. The VocalEssence Ensemble Singers and Chorus, accompanied by a full orchestra, present a rousing “opera for the people.”
