The Edina Hornet Marching Band, comprised of more than 350 student musicians, will be one of the four high school bands taking part in the Great Minnesota Get-Together on Saturday, August 25, beginning at 2 p.m.  Accompanied by the Edina Hornette dance team, the band will entertain fair attendees along the parade route, which begins near the Haunted House, goes north on Cosgrove Street, west on Randall Avenue and south on Underwood Street.  Musical selections include many  school favorites that will get one’s toes tapping! Photographer Paul Nelson, co-founder of Wild Birds Flying, will be the guest artist at a meet-and-greet at Room & Board in Edina on Wednesday, June 13 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Paul follows migratory patterns of North American birds to capture a unique glimpse of their movements as they take off for flight. He developed a specialized photography rig that allows him to capture split-second images of the birds, resulting in stunning photographs that show patterns and details that the naked eye alone wouldn't be able to see. Music has the power to bring about harmony with its harmonies. So be sure to check out the Edina Chorale and the Twin Cities Community Gospel Choir as they jointly present “The Soul of Gospel.” This concert will be a celebration of African-American musical traditions from deeply moving slave songs to spirituals as well as traditional and contemporary gospel melodies. Perceptions of Norway seeks to expand common perceptions of Norwegians and their culture. Through the eyes of a fellow American, photographer Nancy Bundt — an expat residing in Norway for 25 years — guests to the exhibit will be able to witness the photos and stories of a diverse group of Norwegians.
