HBCU Legacy of Leadership

From Dr. King to Kamala Harris, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) produce Black American leaders and legends who advance our society. This panel discussion will explore the origin story of HBCUs, how they are critical to the health of our communities, and how local civil rights leaders like Roy Wilkins and Marvel Cook advocated for HBCUs in the North. How does Dr. King’s message regarding “creative maladjustment” relate to generations of institutional racism faced by African Americans? Three local leaders explore how Black Minnesotans have refused to normalize injustice and inequality and are responding today with action, innovation, and persistence. Pumpkin Smash and Bash

Edina residents can recycle their pumpkins at the free Pumpkin Smash & Bash from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Countryside Park. The event will feature a pumpkin-rolling contest, and then attendees can smash and bash their pumpkin and toss it into piles of compost. Winners of the rolling contest from each time slot will get to have their pumpkins dropped from an Edina Fire truck unless an emergency arises that requires a response from the department. Composted pumpkins will help grow even more pumpkins next year!

The Peterson Family Virtual Concert to Benefit The Peterson Family Music Scholarship in Jazz Studies at The University of Minnesota

Minnesota’s First Family of Music, The Petersons, will perform a virtual benefit concert to raise awareness and funds for The Peterson Family Music Scholarship in Jazz Studies at The University of Minnesota, on October 16, 2020 at 7:30pm. There will be appearances by some of their famous musical friends, including David Sanborn, Oleta Adams, Dave Koz, Ben Sidran, Donny Osmond and more. 2nd Annual Edina Car Show

The Rotary Club of Edina says rain or shine, their second annual Edina Car Show will go on this Saturday, Sept. 12 from noon to 4 p.m.

According to a release, the event will feature "some of the best collector cars in Minnesota." Interested parties can mosey over to the parking lot in front of Herberger's at Southdale to see the collection of classic cars - all for free!

Fifth Annual Car Show

Join the St. Croix Valley community at Heppner’s Auto Body for their fifth annual car show. Enjoy a variety of classic cars, music and free food.
