We regularly feature photo submissions from our Images of Edina photo contest in the pages of Edina Magazine and online. This month, we asked photographer Kate Schmitt to tell us about her photo titled “Hawk.”
Where was the photo taken?
At my house on the deck.
What inspired the shot?
I saw the hawk flying around low and knew my camera was in the kitchen, so I quickly went to grab it.
What’s your favorite thing about this image?
I love how its wingspan is full and almost symmetrical.
What type of camera did you use?
Canon EOS 5D Mark III
Do you typically take nature photos?
I love to photograph nature. But mostly, I take natural light portraits professionally as a photographer and owner of Kate Sweet Photography. I have a studio in the North Loop and also shoot at many local parks.
