August 2018 Edina Magazine

In our annual Education Issue we're checking in with some hardworking, local teens to find out what they're up to.

Photographs are one of the few mediums that can tell a real story in a single glance. In this featured photo, it’s fairly easy to see what’s happening, but that isn’t the only reason it was award winning.

A new approach to dining begins at 50th and France when Moderna Kouzina opens its doors this summer in the former Mozza Mia location.

50th and France is known for amazing and unique shops, and this past March it welcomed a boutique all the way from Lakeville: Pink Door Boutique.

It can be a challenge to know what to send your often busy, sometimes broke and occasionally homesick college kids. A care package specially designed by Love from the Nest may be the perfect solution.

World-renowned chef, culinary author, food television host, airline menu planner, charity ambassador and emcee, husband and father—Daniel Green wears many hats and not just toques. Dashing, dapper and deliciously entertaining, Green has all the star qualities of a world-class celebrity chef.

Every year Edina Magazine spotlights a few high school seniors who stand out in the crowd. This year is no exception. The following young men and women pursue excellence in creative and thoughtful ways. They are good students, athletes, artists and community members.

For many high school juniors, starting a college plan and getting ahead of the curve can be intimidating. It’s one more task to accomplish for students who already have many demands on their time including academics, school activities and social life.

With fall right around the corner, it’s time for students to gear up for the next school year. It can be an exciting and busy time for those finishing high school and focusing on a new chapter in their education.

Time spent with family often creates sweet memories, but for one Edina family it creates sweet maple syrup, too. Jack and Lynne Sullivan are the parents of 11-year-old Emerson and 9-year-old twins Mason and Luke.

There is an old saying that goes, “Doing good makes you feel good.” There have even been studies done on the effects of carrying out good deeds, large and small. News stories of everyday people who make their mark in their communities are reported all the time.

Being recognized for your accomplishments is one of the greatest feelings in the world. Recently a forward for Edina High School’s hockey team was recognized for his skills.

Capturing the moment is a photographer’s job, their greatest goal when they focus their lens.

Outdoor activities for kids need not always be about typical team sports. Some kids and teens prefer more individual challenges like skateboarding.

One of Edina’s most beloved boutiques, Evereve, is giving its corporate office space a bit of a makeover. With a growing business, expansion was a perfect idea.

Braemar Arena and Field—famous for hosting popular events from Hornet hockey games to figure skating shows—features a wall devoted to hockey and figure skating history with a large mural.

Many schools and sports teams boast an iconic mascot. The University of Minnesota has Goldy, the Minnesota Twins have T.C. Bear and Edina has its hornet.
