Edina Teen Aims for Success in Self-Publishing

When fifth-grader Rebecca Ohaeri ran out of books she wanted to read, she started to write her own story. Now a senior at Edina High School, Ohaeri has one self-published novel under her belt, and a trilogy underway.

Edina Resident Unravels Helen Hastings Sibley’s Story

Fans of Minnesota history, rejoice. Last December saw the publication of Dakota Child, Governor’s Daughter, an engaging new book by Edina resident Bruce Kohn, an amateur historian who retired from his job as an attorney in 2005. Kohn has spent the past 20 years researching an enigmatic character in Minnesota’s story—Helen Hastings Sibley, the daughter of Minnesota’s first governor, Henry Hastings Sibley. Author Self-publishes Novel to Industry Acclaim

Karen Kelly didn’t quit when Vantage Point, the publisher that offered to print her first novel, Prospice, suddenly closed its doors. Instead, the Edina mom self-published the book under her own trademark, Legitur Books. Prospice, which means “look ahead” in Latin, was released in hardcover in June and paperback in August; it has garnered praise throughout the independent wing of the publishing industry.
